College of Marin’s bi-annual Career Exploration Fair on Wednesday, April 25 brought over 40 employers to connect with students at the Kentfield campus — thanks to everyone who participated!
The fair was held in the latter part of April so that students preparing to graduate could begin their career search right on campus. Many industry sectors were represented, including health sciences, hospitality, tourism and retail, business, finance and administration, agriculture, landscape and natural resources, education and community services.
Employers highlighted opportunities and positions conducive to refining student knowledge, skills, and level of competence in their respective fields. They also had plenty of openings for both internships and part-time positions in a range of professional fields, perfect for those students still continuing their education.
The always-popular Career Advice Tent gave students a chance to polish their résumés and to practice their career pitches and interviewing skills. A steady stream of students received help with fine-tuning their approach, preparing to talk to employers about job opportunities. Other students took advantage of getting a profile photo taken, complete with professional clothing provided by the nonprofit Bloom.
Due to the overwhelming response from employers looking to table at the fair, a number needed to be turned away due to limited space. However, employers are encouraged to register for other opportunities to connect with College of Marin students during the semester, including:
- Individual Tabling on Campus: If you are interested in tabling on an individual basis, contact Michelle Roberts at COMInternship@marin.edu.
- Posting Employment and Internship Opportunities on College Central: Use College of Marin’s online job and internship board to register your company at www.collegecentral.com/marin. You can post all of your open positions on the site.
- Connecting with College of Marin’s Internship Program: COM’s Internship Program connects students to meaningful work-based learning opportunities with local companies.
