The Indian Valley Organic Farm & Garden is growing! On May 1, 2018, the College of Marin held an official groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the commencement of new construction projects at the Indian Valley Campus!
The expanded facilities will provide more space to hospitality and environmental landscaping educational programs, greatly enhancing the availability of career education classes. The facilities will include:
- A demonstration kitchen,
- Offices and restrooms at the Indian Valley Organic Farm & Garden.
In addition, the farm’s footprint will expand, enhanced with new fencing and ADA access. The construction is scheduled to move quickly, as the highly-anticipated new buildings will be completed in time for the Fall 2018 semester.
The groundbreaking ceremony included remarks from Superintendent/President David Wain Coon, Senior Vice President Jonathan Eldridge, and a number of the pioneering individuals who helped establish the farm in 2008. Other attendees included members of the COM Board of Trustees, COM faculty and staff, COM Finance and Program Advisory Committees, COM alumni and volunteers, University of California Cooperative Extension, the Cultural Conservancy, the Conservation Corps of the North Bay, Friends of IVC, the Novato Garden Club, and the Manager of the Nugget Markets.
