Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and Home Health Aide (HHA) Credential Programs

Requirements to Enroll

To be eligible for the program, you must:

1. Be at least 18 years of age.
2. Have your Social Security Card (or ITIN letter) and a valid government-issued photo ID (CA driver's license, passport, CA ID or military card). 
3. Ensure your name is consistent on all government identification and required government forms.
4. Successfully complete background checks and provide documentation proving a health clearance, specific immunity and vaccinations.
5. Attend orientation.

Important Program Dates: Fall 2026 Certified Nurse Assisting (CNA)

• Class Starts:  October 6, 2026

• Orientation: September 28, September 29, October 1

• Student Selection: September 1, 2026 

• Onboarding: September 1 - October 1, 2026

Program Training Options

About our Spring 11-week Program:

This dual-credential program trains you to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and a Home Health Aide (HHA). CNAs and HHAs provide essential long-term care to the elderly and people with disabilities in skilled nursing facilities and home settings. They are a critical part of a healthcare team and provide direct support to nurses and patients in various settings, including clinics, hospitals, and home health agencies.

• A minimum of 83 hours of classroom instruction, lab skills, and exams.
• 120 hours of clinical training at a long-term care facility in Marin County.
• Expect and prepare for a mandatory orientation (online and in-person)

The program runs for 11 weeks at the College of Marin Indian Valley Campus and approved clinical sites. After successfully completing the course, you will be eligible to take the state competency exams to qualify you for CNA and HHA certification. Note: For CNA only, the program will convene for 10 weeks.

About the Summer Accelerated 7-week Program:

This program trains your to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) only.

The program includes:

• A minimum of 60 hours of classroom instruction, lab skills, and exams.
• 100 hours of clinical training at a long-term care facility in Marin County.
• Expect and prepare for mandatory orientation for 2 - 3 days in-person and online.

The program runs for 7 weeks at the College of Marin Indian Valley Campus. After successfully completing the course, you'll receive an acknowledgement of completion from College of Marin and be eligible to take the state competency exams to qualify you for a CNA certification.
